Doreen Irwin has a professional background in illustration and has been painting horses for many years. She has exhibited several of these pieces and other works at her own Shandoni Ranch, where she raises and trains horses. She also enjoys painting other animals and portraits of people.
Doreen has had her works exhibited several times at the California State Fair, The Horse Expo in Sacramento, CA, the Draft Horse Classic in Grass Valley, CA, the Hubbard Museum of the Horse in Ruidoso Downs, NM, and at varied art galleries throughout California. Within the galleries Doreen has included many of her newest paintings which are currently available for purchase, as well as personal and commissioned paintings as representative samples of her work. If you would like to have something painted, Doreen is available to do commissions of horses, pets, people, buildings, and favorite places.
Doreen Irwin has been a choral director in the Sacramento area for several years -- teaching at Oakmont High School and most recently (retiring, after 37 years, in May, 2013) at Sacramento City College. Since 1995, Ms. Irwin toured every other summer with the SCC Evening Chorale to 17 different countries. Ms. Irwin has 43 published choral compositions for SSA, SSAA, and SATB Voicings.
