Doreen Irwin has been
painting horses for many years. She has exhibited several of
these pieces and other works at her own Shandoni Ranch, where she raises and
trains horses.
Ms. Irwin has had solo shows at Mum’s Restaurant, the
Greg Condos Gallery at Sacramento City College,
and two at Utrecht’s
Gallery. She has also had many pieces in the Western State Horse Expo, the
Grass Valley Equine Art Show, the Sacramento State Fair and the Hubbard
Museum of the American West in Ruidoso Downs, NM. She has sold many pieces
and does several commissions.

Doreen Irwin worked her way through college doing illustrations for newspaper ads. Her professional art background and her love of horses has been combined to produce several pieces of Equine Art. Her subjects are often her own horses or horses showing at Shandoni Ranch where Doreen has been putting on horse shows for several years. She is also interested in painting other animals and portraits of people. Doreen has had her works exhibited several times at the California State Fair, The Horse Expo in Sacramento,CA, the Draft Horse Classic in Grass Valley,CA, the Hubbard Museum of the Horse in Ruidoso Downs, NM, and at art galleries in California. CHORAL CONDUCTOR
Doreen Irwin has been a choral director in the Sacramento area for several years...teaching at Oakmont High School and presently at Sacramento City College. At the college, she also teaches voice classes and piano. Since 1995, Ms. Irwin has been touring every other summer with the SCC Evening Chorale to different countries.
The 2012 tour was to NY City. The choir auditioned for Carnegie Hall and was accepted to do its own personal concert. Doreen conducted her 80 voice choir over the Memorial Day weekend, Sunday, May 27, 8:30 p.m. at Carnegie Hall, to a standing ovation. This was truly an honor for the SCC Evening Chorale.

If you are interested in becoming a member of the SCC Choir which meets every Tuesday evening from 7:00 to 10:00 PM at Sacramento City College, 3835 Freeport Boulevard, please contact Doreen at : doreenirwin@comcast.net. The Choir Class meets in the Performing Arts Building, Room PAC 113. (There is also a smaller ensemble choir which meets twice a week during the day.) School starts the week of January 21; choir members should attend the choir of their choice. Auditions for both choirs will take place the first week of school.

CHORAL COMPOSITIONS Ms. Irwin has 43 published choral compositions for SSA, SSAA, and SATB Voicings. There are several Christmas pieces, one arranged for band as well as SA and SATB choir. There are also all original jazz ballads, folk songs, arrangements of folk songs, and some gospel style pieces. Publishers are Elkan Vogel, National Music and Shawnee Press and Plymouth Music.
